Our Condolences on the passing of Daniel Albright
IASIL Japan offers our deepest condolences on the passing of Professor Daniel Albright of Harvard University. We are very much honoured to have welcomed Professor Albright as our distinguished guest speaker at the 2005 conference in Tokyo. He gave us a memorable lecture on Benjamin Britten’s music Curlew River and Noh plays. In 2005, Professor Albright also visited Kyoto, and gave another special lecture at the Kyoto conference of the Yeats Society of Japan. He spoke about Yeats and the Science of Modernism, and was also an enthusiastic participant in the symposium about Yeats, Beckett and Noh. All who were present on those occasions will remember his generosity, insight and profound understanding of Japanese culture represented by the Noh tradition. We extend our most heartfelt sympathy to his family and friends.
