This year is the 150th anniversary of the birth of W.B. Yeats. The Embassy and Waseda University partners are holding this special evening with an introductory lecture on Irish culture, music and refreshments. Don’t miss this rare chance to hear from an expert on this topic!

(50-60 minutes followed by a Q&A session of about 30 minutes)

【Profile of Speaker for Special Lecture: Professor Patrick Crotty (BA, PhD)】
Current Professor in Irish & Scottish Literature at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland.
His area of research includes modern Irish and Scottish poetry and the links between the
Celtic and Anglophone literatures of Britain and Ireland. Before coming to Aberdeen in
2005 he taught English and Welsh Studies at Trinity College Carmarthen, Wales and was
also the head of the English department at St. Patrick’s College, Dublin City University. Among his many publications, he is also the editor of the Penguin Book of Irish Poetry.
